Change the toggle of the setting ‘Info banner’ to OFF
How to disable restricted mode:
Check that the Restricted Profile mode is not active: Press Home and navigate to the ‘Restricted Profile’ icon next to the clock. (If the icon is not available, the restricted profile is not active.)
Press OK and select "Exit restricted profile"
Enter the PIN-code and check the info Banner setting availability as described above.
Hmmm ... don't seem to have that option ... but another UK support specialist did state the following:
"the easy fix would have been to turn off the info banner. But with this model, you can't turn it off from the UI settings due to a new bug introduced with the latest sw release. That UI setting was removed!"
So the software is broken compounded by the fact that the potential workaround was broken at the same time. 😠
I wouldn't hold your breath. Sony support told me "It's under investigation" 8 weeks ago. If it's really that difficult to fix why couldn't they at least reinstate the option to turn the banner off? Fortunately I did eventually find a workaround. I've had to unplug everything from my av receiver and connect direct to the TV instead. Before that the problem was so bad the TV was unwatchable (no exaggeration - see my earlier post for a clip).
Hey guys, unfortunately the option isn't available on these two models: XG90 and XG83. But should be there for other models still, if you have another model and you don't have the option I would recommend reporting to Sony so that they know.
Sony have just released a new firmware v.6.7165 which I installed yesterday, and so far all seems good 😀
There is now an option to turn off the banner display (under watching TV if I remember right) and no display came up all evening, and hdmi control seems to work better now. 👍🏻
