The Alphabetical Architecture Missing from Contacts

I would like to know what has gone wronng with this phone.

I am the son of the person who owns this phone and I would like to know, for what reason would alphabets architecture from the contacts folder go missing.

This has caused my mum great stress, with her not being able to contact some of her family and even hospital/doctors.

Please explain to me.

she has taken it to her providers who have told her they cannot do anything about it, and am presuming not sending it back to you , included.

I have yet to take it to the shop myself.

I will add my address where possible as an alterative address to correspond with.

My mum is 80 and depends on me to fix issues like this, so please don't stress her out.

I have informed my mum of this account I have made here.

I look forward to hear from you.

Yours sincerely

JT Valerie

Hi @dorval27, welcome to the community.

This sounds very strange. Thinking_Face Are the contacts perhaps sorted by surname first, but don't have the surname displayed or are they completely random?

Check under the filters. In the contacts app, press the 3 dots on the top right and select 'Filter'.

Dear CameronT

PS: I tried to add a picture but the feature does not seem to be working. I will send the by other means like edit or a next post.

Thank you for your response and direction. I

I have just tried using the features section to which you mentioned and I found out some markings were not ticked, so I tried them both.

I will add pictures which concern this matter, but what I also found.

The alphabetical index, does not appear till that space has to be filled with a corresponding letter.

Though this is still a bit confusing, I think that what I can only do is best to see it's future progress.

This is my mum's son writing you and I will explain to mum these new features I have noticed.

Let me get back to you by this time next week with a report on the performance.

Thank you for your time again.

Yours sincerely

Thank you @dorval27, let me know how you get on.

By the way, to add a screenshot, there will be a photos option at the top of the screen. Click on that to add an image.

Hi There CameronT

I didn't know you were at work this early morning (UK time)

There is a problem with the phone.

Let me get the picture facility here on this page.

Though activated, no options became available.

I am using my phone and will send the pictures to you from mine.

 I won't mention the OS.

Now, out to our "alphabetical structure index" problem.

I do believe that to the left hand side of the chain. The index does not appear till a recognised name is entered. But I entered my mums brother email to add him in the contact folder, since his phone number has been lost, but it will not show in the list even when scrolling down through the index to the left side of the alpha.

I also found there is no control of phone to sim info and vias-versa.

This is very stressing to her, being a contract device.

I do not have the skill to take the device apart and as I mentioned, the service from EE to mum, said they couldn't do anything about it.

I would presume they would have took it to be repaired.

What can I do for her, as she is paying for a device that's not fully functioning.

Sorry if I sound a bit blunt, as tiredness is overcoming me.

I am adding the pictures (2) and in one it shows I have tick the "Contacts with phone numbers" and the other picture shows a "index letter missing".

I look forward to your reply

Yours sincerely

PS: I would be happy to give you my email address, if you wish to contact me by other means if necessary.

@dorval27,

They appear to be in the correct order, sorted by first name. Having the "contacts with phone number" option ticked means that it will only display contacts that have a phone number. If you want to display contacts that have email addresses for example, you will need to untick this option.

If you scroll down a little further in the filters, you should see some accounts. This could be for Google, Skype, Whatsapp etc. I recommend you tick everything under these accounts.

Dear CameronT

I tried and added as best possible all the links below.

IMG_1333.JPG

I had to unclick the "Online Contacts" feature, because it only allows me to see myself.

I still haven't been able to include my mothers brother in the list, where is name begins with the letter 'F', which is not applying itself, though I have added mums email accounts links.

@dorval27,

Untick the box that says "Only show contacts that are online". You should also untick the "Contacts with Phone Numbers".
