VGN AR21S DRIVERS ETC FOR WINDOWS 7

I have managed more or less get my Vaio back working to how it was when I was using XP with the following exceptions: CD Rom eject button Brightness etc. through the 'Fn' key - On screen volume but the button does work - S1 & S2 buttons. Anyone found any other up to date Vaio drivers that would work on this machine? I can not believe Sony ovrlooked this model as it cost me 2grand less about 3 years ago.

i know how you feel. but what i have learned is that the vaio is not as good as you think they are when you own one. when mine packs up which i dont think it will be long i will will be buying the cheapest laptop i can find and bin it after 2 years and get another and you are alway upto date with the latest software and programs. this has got to be cheaper than paying 2k to last just 3 years.

Now, i don't know if you're using 32bit or 64bit but i had the same issues. I'm using 64bit Win7 with my AR51M and managed to get everything working, function keys and all. Here's my thread at overclockers, it's all for 64bit but the principles are the same, you just need the 32bit drivers for 32bit Win7...

This should get all youe function buttons working. The S1 & S2 may need an extra bit of Sony software to work, i'm not sure as i don't use them. Everything else should be fine though.

Try this:
Go to the AR21 programmes and drivers. Download '2008Q1 Utilities'. Open it and first you install
’Sony Shared Library 4.1’, then ’Vaio Event Service’ and ’Vaio Control Center’ and finally ’Vaio Original Function Settings’. In this order!
