one last thing

Don't worry so much about backing up your apps

on your computer go to

market.android.com -> log in -> click on My Library -> and send all your apps to your phone

the first thing you have to do its to backup everything, use the backup & restore app

just to play it safe sync your contacts w/ google if you haven't already

open your phonebook

press MENU button -> tap on Send Contacts -> select all -> send it to your email

on your computer

-> download the file -> go to your gmail -> click on contacts -> click on more actions -> on the drop down menu click on "import" -> choose the file -> and click import

if you really want to save your SMS and MMS try this apps, the more sms/mms you have stored on your phone the slower your messaging app will be

Install "backup SMS" to back up your SMS and MMS to your Gmail (This is by far the best app)

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.zegoggles.smssync&feature=search_result

or your SMS use

"backup & restore SMS"

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore&feature=search_result

or for your MMS use "Save MMS"

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.schwimmer.android.mmsextract&feature=search_result

1) download flashtool and install it

2) download the firmware and take it inside Flashtool-> firmwares

go to Flashtool

inside there will be 5 folders

                                   Custom
                                   Drivers
                                   Firmwares
                                   Loaders
                                   X10Flasher_lib
                                        Open Firmwares
erase all the files that are inside Firmwares
X10i Generic
Generic version 2.1update1 build 2.1.A.0.435

or

10a Generic

Generic version 2.1update1 build 2.1.A.0.435

once you download that, put the firmware inside the folder "Firmwares"
click on X10FlashTool (Application)
click on Flash
Select your firmware
Press Ok
it will ask you to connect your phone on Flashmode (turn off your phone, press the back button, then connect the USB) press OK
Click Flash

I suggested the other app because it will sync them to your Gmail which allows you to check them from anycomputer any time, but make sure you did backed up all your contacts
