SMS center missing after s/w update

Hello All

I cant send any sms, when i decide to check my sms center number i was in for a shock.....the sms center is missing!!! how can i send sms now, is there any way...psl dont tell me i have to reinstall....oh god....pls help. Thanks in advance.

The Menu will appear once I hit the #.

I have tried it in both my X10 and X10 mini pro running Android 2.1.

Thanks Gwhisperz...... i got the "missing " Message center ..........but a new problem has come....dont know the cause as usual. When i enter the message center number and tap on update, its showing a message "update error". i entered the message number in different ways still its the same error. i was thinking the message center number would have changed but when i checked another phone the message center number is same and i can send sms from that phone. Any idea what the problem could be .....or could the message center number be different for an android phone. Thanks in advance

Ok spoke with the operator, they dont have any idea. After a lot of googling...i have zeroed in on a problem caused by older technology sim. My sim's about 2 years old, so going to the operators to get a latest sim capable of handling 3G. Will update here ...Thanks a lot for the help.

Hello all. Changed the sim and............ the problem still persists. the same update error message . Still trying to find an answer by browising the net, hope i get an answer soon.... now have to call up each and everyone for every nitty gritty. SMS is free for my connection but no use. Hope someone comes up with a solution soon :smileyconfused:.

Yes i did, i took the message center number from my other phone (same operator). I can send messages from that phone, no problem at all. The biggest joke is i can send sms free as per my contract but not the calls, now im making calls for every nitty gritty. God knows what my bill will be by end of this month, hope i dont go too much over board. Menwhile if i some solution can be found that will be great. Thanks in advance.

I still think that it is Network Operator's issue (????). Why not check with them again?

If this is a common issue among the mini or pro with your Network Operator, I believe they should have a solution for it (unless yours is an isolated case - which I doubt).

I remember cases of this sort from users, some are rectified by replacement of SIM card while some by rectification from the Network Operator's ends.

Frankly, I can't think of any suggestions.

Success!!!. I played around and finally iam able to send sms, yippeeee...... Ok now about how i did it . (Step by Step)

After entering *#*#4636#*#* 

Tap Phone Details

Scroll down to SMSC and tap the white space and enter the message center number. For eg message center number for my operator(Bsnl)  in India: +919440099997)

This will show as Update error , then Tap refresh space  the number you have entered will be automatically displayed like this  "+919440099997",145.

So what i did was i removed the 145 and left the quotes and then hit the refresh button again and swithced off the phone and restarted it and when i tried sending sms.......Voila......the sms is up up and away....... feels great though....hope this is a long term fix for the phone.
