How to silence incoming call?

Hi

How can I silence an incoming call?

RIght now all I can do is slide the red phone icon to the left and it goes into vmail.

Is there are way to just silence the call on the touch screen without answering?

I will check those apps - since this is my first smartphone w android I have to remember there is an app for everything.

Thx

No problem, make sure you backup your contacts and sms, etc just in case your phone acts up

Contacts

just to play it safe sync your contacts w/ google if you haven't already

open your phonebook

press MENU button -> tap on Send Contacts -> select all -> send it to your email
on your computer
-> download the file -> go to your gmail -> click on contacts -> click on more actions -> on the drop down menu click on "import" -> choose the file -> and click import
Apps

Don't worry so much about backing up your apps

on your computer go to

market.android.com -> log in -> click on My Library -> and send all your apps to your phone

market my library.JPGmarket my library 02.JPGmarket my library 03.JPGmarket my library 04.JPG

SMS/MMS

if you don't want to use the backup & restore app then

Install "backup SMS" to back up your SMS and MMS to your Gmail

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.zegoggles.smssync&feature=search_result

or your SMS use

"backup & restore SMS"

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore&feature=search_result

or for your MMS use "Save MMS"

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.schwimmer.android.mmsextract&feature=search_result

Call Logs

And for call logs this is great

Thanks uliwooly.

Since you know about these things my only concern with the apps is will they corrupt or alter the code in my mini pro sotware?

I don't see anywhere where they've been tested - I guess user reviews are the best source.

Are you using the apps that you recommend? I am not sure what is a good app and what is bad.

Thank you.

you can use your computer to look for apps on the market (its quite simple)

market.android.com

if they are on the market they are safe, you can read other user ratings

you can always uninstall the apps

on the home screen press MENU -> settings -> applications -> manage applications -> look for the app and uninstall it

and yes I do use the apps that I recomend

btw this is not my real account, I'm having problems with my original account

you can read other posts I had

don't be afraid to install apps, that's the great thing about a smartphone

Ok thanks for the information - it all helps.

Glad I can uninstall an app - I don't want to keep doing resets on my phone.

BTW, can you recommend a good app to conserve the battery and shut down background applications?

The battery seems to last only a day.

Thx

smartphones use more battery than a regular phone, mostly because of the screen, I would recomend few things to save battery

install this app Quick Settings

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bwx.bequick&feature=search_result

now turn off GPS, WIFI, Bluetooth, Sync (if you use twitter or fb etc and you want to keep getting updates leave it on), lower the brightness, and if you don't use 3G/Data all the time turn it off when you don't use it, this will make your battery last a lot longer

if your battery last a day, that's average with smartphones
