I tried the following steps:
1. went to settings
2. selected applications
3. selected manage applications
but, there is not manage contacts present in my phone. what do I do? my father has stored over 500 contacts that i want to delete. Someone help me please
Solved! Go to Solution.
Try Applications>Manage Applications, then if you are on 2.1 press the menu button (bottom left hardware) and Filter>All. Then look for Contacts and then clear data.
do you want to delete them all?
first run bakup & restore and DO NOT backup your contacts
now go to
Settings
Privacy
Factory Reset
or
go to your Phonebook once you see all the contacts press the MENU button (the one with four squares) then press delete contacts
if i click the menu button ihave four options
1. contacts to view
2. import/export
3. send contacts
4. accounts
i searched in individual options but no option suggests delete contacts. I however have an option of individually deleting contacts but there are over 500 contacts. i want to delete them all and feed in my numbers from my SIM
Ok lets try this, open your phone app, then click on contacts then press menu. This might a dumb question but are you running 2.1 or 1.6? Either or factory reset should delete everything stored on your phone
Thank you suze. uploaded all MY contacts into the phone. thanks a a tonn
Glad you got sorted and lucky you having a Dad to pass on nice phones... my Dad has a steam powered mobile from Nokia from the early 1990's!!! The only thing I would want that for is to display it in a museum
Thank you suze and thanks a lot.
hi i have tried with your steps . but the contacts are not deleted from phone . apart from factory data reset is there anything possible to delete all contacts?
Hi there, when you say you have followed all steps can you run through for me what you have tried and then I can try and reproduce the issue on my handset.
I wonder if you have a sync set up with Google/SE sync, so that as soon as you clear the phone of contacts its resyncing and filling up your phone book again. You could try Accounts and Sync and make sure all accounts are turned off and that Auto Sync is not ticked then follow the Manage applications route mentioned above.
