Every time I move the photos in my memory card in to my PC (PC mode for Windows the counter is zeroed.
This means that my next lot of photos will start with the same numbers and then have to be uploaded to another folder and then renamed/renumbered.
Life's too short!
Is there a configuration option somewhere to stop the counter be initialised?
(The counter on my Sony R1 camera is nearing 3000 now.)
Solved! Go to Solution.
I would suggest you try Media Go as the phone synchronises with this application, and see whether the numbering of the photos continues consecutively after uploading them and deleting them from the phone.
The other thing you can try, using your own file system, is after you upload the photos on the PC,delete the photos from your phone except for the latest one, and then see if the new photos you take are numbered consecutively from that photo number onwards.
Does this also happen when you upload these photos to Media Go on your PC?
I was hoping to avoid Media Go. I have not tried to upload photos to MG yet.
Over many years I have developed my own photo filing system in Windows.
My PC in W7 registers my Elm phone's memory card currently as drive G: and so I can move the photos from there to the appropriate folder (D:\Photography, Cameras, Elm, Snaps initially).just as I do with my Sony R1. I can view each photo in Snaps with Breeze Browser and then either move it to the appropriate folder for future processing or delete it.
It would be great if the Elm could be configured to name the photos consecutively DSC00001 -> DSC99999 before they are written to the memory card so that they would not overwrite in my Snaps folder..
Is this possible?

Thank you,
Media Go has my photos with consecutive numbers now.
It took me a long time to find out how to clear my device's memory card. Eventually I found that tiny check box at the bottom right of the screen.
I then took 5 more photos and used *Memory Card, Media to Import. These were properly numbered after the 4 I had already in MG and I can manipulate all of them in Breeze Browser.
(I assume MG is numbering the photos itself or else telling my Elm how to number them.)
No worries.Media Go is certainly very useful but very unappreciated at times.
Ok so far.
Media Go created a new suibfolder 'August2011' in my destination folder. I am hoping that my photos counter will not be zeroed come September; Thursday!
Please do not take the trouble to reply - I see in

how busy you are.
Not that busy really, but glad that MG seems to have solved the problem, so far anyway.Let me know what happens on Thursday.
All Ok on Thursday. the count continued consecutively into September.
Next problem I am working is the inaccurate GPS data being added to the Exif's in the photos. I am trying it without Assisted Start.
Maybe there is not coverage for AS in Northern Ireland. Without AS the Elm's GPS may not be usable. Even my fancy Garmin can take a couple of minutes to get a fix from a 'cold' switch-on.
Another point: from looking at my account I think I get charged for each time I use Assisted Start (WAP?)
Yes, assisted start will incur data charges as it uses the mobile network (unlike GPS, A-GPS doesn't work over wifi) to connect to a server in order to get a quicker fix.It just takes longer to home in on the satellites without it.
As for the accuracy of Geotagging, this can vary depending on location (city or rural) and on how accurate your location fix is/how many satellites are active at the time you take the photo.
