HELP ! XPERIA NEO. SORT VIDEOS IN GALLERY

Xperia Neo. This is my first "smart" phone.

I've got a lot to learn but I'm stuck with two elementary questions.

1. I have loaded a number of music videos by dragging items from my LIBRARY to the phone MEMORY CARD.

In GALLERY there is only one ALBUM which is labelled video.

When I tap the ALBUM I see a thumbnail of each video.

It's very difficult to distinguish between each thumbnail to select the video I want.

Is there a way to tag / lable / identify each individual video. ?

2. MUSIC seems a lot simpler

Select MUSIC from my home screen

I can list ALBUMS and easily identify and select any individual track.

The USER GUIDE seems to overlook one simple point. How do I STOP a track ???

I don't mind looking a bit thick. I'm new to this and can't find solutions in the User Guide.

Any advice anyone ?

Thanks

David

to stop a track just press the play/pause button that will stop the music, or if you have the headphones on just press the button and that will stop the music

as for the videos I will suggest this app

mobo player

don't forget to try Google Music

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.android.music&feature=search_result

if you live in the US you can test drive the cloud base part of this app

Hello Uliwooly,

Thanks for your message. Very kind of you to take the time to offer some advice.

I'll try the mobo player you suggest.

I did send a message to Sony Ericsson on this issue.

I got a reply from their Support Centre: here is an extract from their reply..

"Unfortunately it would not be possible to add tags to the videos which you have put onto your handset in the gallery

you would only be able to look at the thumbnails which are on the grid"

Not very helpful.

This is a fundamental shortcoming in the Gallery functionality.

Surely it should be possible to have a list with a thumbnail similar to that in my Ipod touch.

Secondly regarding the music tracks.

Yes - the Play/Pause button will pause the track but it doesn't stop the track and return me to the album.

Do you know how to stop the track please ?

Thanks,

David

one of the cool things about the gallery is that it can group the pictures/videos by date or location Slightly_smiling_Face

just open the galllery -> camera -> tap on the top right corner

it will be a great idea to add labels though

regarding the music player

if you have the app open on the bottom right coner theres an icon three bars and a triangle tap on it and voila you are back to the album

or tap on the bottom left corner (folder) and you'll be back to the artist list albums tracks playlists

Hello again,

GOT IT NOW !

I just sat down to try the Mobo Player you suggested.

I downloaded the app from Android Market. (Free of charge)

Tapped on the widget on my Xperia Neo.

Tapped on the folder icon bottom left hand corner

(This brings up a page headed Choose the media directory)

Scroll down to Video and tap...

ALL MY MUSIC VIDEOS CLEARLY LISTED WITH TITLE AND ARTIST.

Many thanks for your help.

I hope this may help any other users of Media Go.

If anyone from Sony Ericsson reads this (and they should monitor what goes on in the Forum) then they

should register the fact that  -

1. MEDIA GO Gallery is woefully inadequate.

2. It took the voluntary advice from Uliwooly in the Forum to suggest a solution.

3. Needed a free app from a third party to display basic information which should have been available in Media Go/ Gallery to begin with.

From the beginning of my purchase, the stored media files were not found on the next day. even I created Album for my music and stored some files but the problem exists.

yesterday I capture some photos and on my return to my home (2:30am i.e. today morning) it says you don't have any files in your Media.???

How can I solve this problem.......

conect ur phone to ur pc and see if there are any music files on ur sd card..

it'll be in music folder..

and if there are the files..

format ur memory card either using pc or by going to settings > storage > unmount sd card > format sd card..

see after formatting it helps..

Hello my friend, i got the same problem also... media's like video, photo etc disappeared after a day. well i got a good support from SE to resolve this issue. Just download an app in the android market Astro file manager and find in the system or other folders .nomedia this file needs to be deleted... and presto! all media files will appear. Hope that will resolve the issue..

Have a nice day...
