the app drawer should be a small ^ icon so you can see ALL your apps

when I say LONG press on the homescreen it should be long press on an EMPTY space on the homescreen

When i press the menu button i get only 3 options, Arrange Widget, Change Wallpaper, Arrange Icons.

In the app drawer i am unable to find Contacts App.

Follow the instructions below,

To move an application
1 From the Home screen, press .
2 Tap Arrange icons.
3 Touch and hold an item until it vibrates and drag it to one of the corners or to another
application pane. If you move an item in the last applications pane, the pane switches
to the next pane.
4 Press to back arrow key exit the edit mode.
Let me know how this goes.

If this is the case, and you believe that you are unable to find the contacts icon which should be located either on one of the four corners or within the application drawer, a Factory Data Reset will need to be performed. Follow the directions below,

Menu > Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset (note: this will remove all data from the handsets memory but will not touch a SIM card or memory stick.)

That will definately work Slightly_smiling_Face

Come on do not give me a dumb solution. There has got to be a way to add a shortcut, I believe we had this option on 1.6. Currently started using another home screen app so have found a temporary solution

I am simply providing an answer to the query based on the information you have provided throughout this thread, you advised that you are unable to find the contacts icon which looks like a red phone on a white folder, there are two places this can be located on one of the four corners or the second within the applications drawer.

Here is a note directly from the X10 Mini user guide relating to shortcuts to applications

The items in the applications panes are not shortcuts to the applications but the actual
applications. When you move an application from the applications panes to corners or vice versa,
the actual application gets moved and not shortcut. There are no shortcuts to the applications.

I appreciate the help that u have provided me, don't u think this is a bug that needs a fix??? and also please ask SE developers when they are going to update android versions for x10 mini/pro and x8, there are many people waiting for a long long time for it.
