I feel like Im going nuts, in order to charge my phone, I need to open it up and remove the battery then switch it back on again before it will accept the charge. Plus i need to phone someone in order to receive any text messages through. When I make a phone call I need to phone twice because the first time i call the person cant hear me, or sometimes I cant hear them, but the second time it works fine. I also need to send a text then make a phone call or remove the battery and put it back in so that the message will send. And I often get the same text message over and over and over until I remove and replace the battery.
I have contacted the provider of the phone but the same thing happens again and again, this is the 4th phone since June and they are all doing the same thing, yet Orange insist that there is nothing wrong and just keep sending me these phones and they have all doen the same thing

Ok, got it (hope so)!
It still seems to be me that it's more to network issue (not totally). Anyway, either you wait for another replacement phone or perform a Software Repair either with PC Companion or SE Update Service. If after Software Repair, you are still having those issues, you will know who you should look for.
You just have to go through the process of elimination to sort it out as you have no other option (due to your contract).
A reminder .... Software Repair will erase phone data completely (SD Card not affected), I believe you are quite familiar with the backup process (your past experiences with phone replacement) or probably you don't even need to do any backup.

Hi, the first part of your post made me think that it could be a combination of hardware, software and network problem. BUT .... 4 phone with the same problems? Exactly same problem?
Calls and sms problem could be a SIM Card issue (test SIM Card?). However, battery charging issue could be a hardware or software problem (Software Repair?).
You need to tackle them one by one. You might want to test with another SIM Card for a start.
Hi thanks for the reply,
Orange has also replaced the sim card trying to see if that helped, but still I have the same problems. the first phone was only the texts and calls, but the others have had all the problems. Orange supplied me with the phone as part of the contract and just keep sending me these crazy replacements that do the same thing, they are refusing to even consider giving me a different phone, I chose the sony one because I had a sony k550i for about 4 years and its still working, (Ive been using it in between replacement phones with the sim out the crazy phones too so its not a sim problem) I really dont like this phone now and I wish I had never signed a 2 year contract
I see, a collective problem from the 4 phone (that's what I have suspected). I can understand your feeling and as a result you have 'decided' to dislike your phone. Hopefully, we are able to change your 'decision' on this ....
The best you can do now is to tell us the issues that you are facing with this CURRENT phone, let's see anyone here has a solution for that (one of the purpose of this forum).
haha, I havent made myself clear lol
the problems I put down are ALL from the current phone, I am waiting on yet another replacement phone from orange who freely admitted to me today that they will keep replacing the phone no matter how many problems I have until 6 months go by (the length of their warranty) then they will just tell me to deal with sony cos its not their problem any more.
I love all my other sony things, and specifically chose this one because it was a sony product, but I really cant believe the lengths I need to go to just to send or receive a text or even charge the phone up or to make a phone call. My biggest grievance is with the lack of interest from orange who sold me the phone in the first place, not with sony, i just want a phone that works without all the conditions....
currently the conditions are
- remove battery then replace it before it will allow the phone to charge
- to make a phone call, I have to phone twice (first call is silent to either me or the receiver)
- to send or receive a text, I first have to make a phone call, or remove the battery if the phone call doesnt work
- to stop the same text from coming in over and over and over within seconds of each other, i have to remove the battery
the first phone only had the text issue, (having to make a call or remove the battery to send/receive texts) the other three have had ALL of the other problems and I am expecting yet another replacement phone tomorrow. I am dreading it all happening again, there must be something that is causing this to happen to just me, or else sony would have recalled lots of faulty phones would they not?

thank you for your help, I know that with me getting another new phone I dont actually have a problem any more, I just want to know that there is someone willing to give the kind of help I need when orange are being so UNhelpful and just continue to send replacements.
not once have they suggested software repair or checking for sony updates, the most they have told me is to pop the battery out and back in again, and because that worked they suggested i just keep doing that because it works.... how ridiculous!
Ive had my new phone now for 7 hours and not had to remove the battery yet so fingers crossed,
If I do have any problems I will be on this site though instead of calling that useless bunch
thanks gwhispererz
No problem at all ....
I guess most will find the easy way out (don't quote me :smileysilly:), but you should get some advices/suggestions here in the forum.
Come back again if you encounter any problem with the replacement phone (I hope you don't = no problem).
I will keep my fingers crossed too and enjoy your phone.
