If I set my hx10v to 'usb drive' mode for USB connection then PMB will copy new photos accross and delete the camera copy, as it should.
If I set my camrea to 'MTP' mode I can update my GPS data and copy accross photos but not delete them automatically as part of the import, I have to manually delete them using the controls on the camera itself.
I would really like to be able to copy photos accross removing the camera copy AND update my GPS without having to disconnect and chamge modes in between each action.
Any tips ?
Hello yosnutt - Welcome to the Sony Forums
One possible 'workaround' for this may be to try and use Windows Explorer (or the Mac equivalent depending upon which system you are using). With the camera in MTP mode, once you have finished moving across the image data in PMB I would suggest closing the software and going into Explorer where hopefully you will be able to view your camera's memory card as an external drive. If you can see all of your memory card files, you will be able to delete them in one action by highlighting/deleting as opposed to having to do them individually on the camera's screen.
I know this isn't an ideal solution as it doesn't involve PMB but this may still be the easiest way around it.
Thanks,
Simon
Hi Simon,
Thanks for the advice.
Unfortunately while in MTP mode the camera appears in windows explorer as a read only file share
For now I will leave it in USB Drive mode and put up with potentially out of date GPS data, no real harm there. It is just one of those niggles that seem to haunt Sony's kit. They make great hardware and the parts of the software that work are quite good, but they always manage to cripple one aspect of the functionality...
Sorry, rant over ...
Cheers
Yoss.
Hello again
After getting the images into PMB on your computer with the correct GPS data attached, would it not then be possible to erase them all in one go using your PC (once checking that the images are all present / backed up).
Thanks,
Simon
Hi Simon,
Had a try with your last suggestion only to discover the 'drive' that is presented in Windows Explorer is read only in MTP mode !
However, I did have quite a fiddle and came up with a configuration that works.
I don't recall what the option was set to 'out of the box' but there is one called 'LUN Setting'.
This was set to 'multi'.
The difference the instructions state it makes is that when in Multi mode you see both built in storage and memory card, and when in Single mode you see only the memory card share.
But from testing in 'Single' mode you can read-write and PMB can delete the originals from it.
What really made no sense was the fact that in 'Single' mode I can update GPS from within PMB !
I did try 'MTP' mode and 'Single' mode as a combination but it still refused to delete via PMB.
So the working configuration for me is 'USB Connect Setting' set to 'Mass storage' & 'LUN Setting' set to ' Single'.
I can now import and delete in PMB and use the 'GPS support tool' from the PMB tools menu.
I am now once again a happy Sony Cybershot user.
Hello again
I'm glad that you found a way around this and have got it all working again. Hopefully if anyone else has a similar issue in the future they will find this thread and see your solution.
