HX100V Burst mode - create animations

I use the burst mode and have found you can make them in to .GIF animations. I would like to keep these and share them to friends but you can't use them as GIFs (upload them on FB). Does anyone know how to make the short animations/the pics stitched together in to a useable format? Does Sony give this information anywhere?

I think Sony Vegas will let you export as frames to an app that will create GIF timelines for them. Photoshop, PaintShopPro, GIMP etc will do this.

Basically you could do the whole thing in Photoshop etc but if you're not up to speed with these apps it could be easier to generate the frames in something more straightforward like Vegas.
