Problem with GPS on xz1 compact. Cannot locate GPS and googlemaps unusable.

Phone does not update GPS position. GPS app is unable to locate GPS position. 

Tried emptying googlemaps cache and data. Restarted. Al systems are up to date. Using Pie.

check the gyroscope test in the Support app, which is a blue circle with a question mark.

If I run the tests using the support function, the GPS fails.. Whether inside or outside. This was not a problem before.

Gyroscope is fine. Just GPS that fails

have you repaired the phone with Xperia Companion to narrow down the issue?

I agree with @Uliwooly

Try the software repair, to determine if it's a hardware issue.
