I use a hearing aid and last owned an Xperia Z3, which worked perfectly in telecoil mode with my hearing aids. That phone has since died after ~2 years of use, and I recently purchased an Xperia XA.
The XA claims to support telecoil mode on hearing aids, and has an option in call settings for hearing aid compatibility, but there is no difference before and after enabling this setting. There are extreme amounts of static and noise that make hearing any conversion impossible.
Hi @Mr_Thumpy,
According to the information i have available the Xperia XA does not support this feature. I'll be happy to forward any feedback about this.
Let me know if there is anything else you are wondering about.
Why does the spec sheet on Sony's own website for the Xperia XA list it as having a high level of both hearing aid and telecoil compatibility then?

Why is there an option in the call settings to toggle hearing aid support?
It seems like a case of false advertising to me. Unless I can find a friend or a relative who has exactly the same model of phone I wish to purchase that I can test, there is no way to test phones out before I buy them, as no shop that I have come across is willing to unwrap a new phone, insert a sim card and let me test it to see if it's hearing aid compatible. So I have to go off the specifications for the phone, which you are telling me are not accurate?
I based my information on an internal list we have here on compatability with hearing aid for all our models, I couldn't find the Xperia XA on this list. I've requested more information about this and will get back to you as soon as I have more information.
I'm sorry if there was any confusion.
