WH-1000XM4 Audio Stuttering Stopping Starting when connected to TV

Hi

I have had the Sony WH-1000XM4 Headphones since launch and they are awesome no issues when connected to my android smartphone or Windows Dell Laptop however when these are connected my Samsung 49" MU7000 smart TV the audio stutters starts and stops, once I disconnect and reconnect I may get about 5 mins of normal audio playback but then goes back to audio stuttering starting stopping, Headphone Firmware is updated to the latest and fully charged, When the audio stutters I am in the same room as the TV only about 2-3 meters away from it, Any ideas how to resolve?

I still have my old Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones which connect to the same TV (Samsung 49" MU7000) with no issues at all no Audio Stuttering at all, they sound awesome

I've been using my very expensive Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones for 6 month.  I've not had a single issue until I purchased a new Samsung Q50R TV.  I get shuddering constantly. Sometimes, I am able to stop the program and restart and it will go away for a while.  I assumed it was the new TV until I tested 2 other bluetooth headphones.  Both work perfectly without any hiccups. The other headphones I have are Taotronics SoundSurge 60 and Taumbay.  NOT THE TV'S FAULT! PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM SONY!

Hey brbice, it might be the headphones and it might not, how to tell?

-Try the headphones with the main device it worked with, if it's okay, mostly it's a compatibility issue (Bluetooth profiles/versions don't match)

-What if they match? Refer to the support of your TV for settings adjustments.

Hope this helps ^^

As per my experience xm4 randomly works well but sometimes is playing voice with stuttering (you hear sound but with plenty of repeating miliseconds interruptions). The issue might be caused by fact that Samsung Smart TV can't distinguish in between (1) xm4 as headphones (only speakers function) and (2) xm4 as headset (headset=combination of speakers and microphone) while probably when xm4 is ad-hoc connected as option (1) then it works fine. However if xm4 would randomly connect as option (2) the stuttering appears. This issue is happening just with Sony xm4. The all others bluetooth devices works fine with Samsung Smart TV. Sony xm3 works fine as well. It seems that base of the issue is that both xm4 and Samsung Smart TV doesn't have a choice to switch-off or to ignore xm4's headset profile.

I agree with Oldrich, and you should make sure the firmware is up to date using this link.

@brbice Have you tried setting priority on stable connection as mentioned earlier in the thread as well?

It'd also be really helpful if you give us an update after you hear from Samsung ^^

Hi JD,

I've not had time to get with SamSung, but the recent firmware update that was just pushed to the headphones seems to have fixed my issue.  I only had time to check for 1/2 hour, but will test more this weekend and will update you again once I'm completely satisfied. If I do have issues I will definitely talk to SamSung and give you feedback.

Thanks so much for listening!  Love these headphones!  Most comfortable I've ever owned.

Just bought these xm4 headphones to upgrade from my XM3 which are still good brill but old now , and I’m getting very bad stuttering when I’m connected to my Samsung smart TVs via Bluetooth, the XM3 are perfect when connected this way , but the XM4 are terrible , when I reboot them they seem fine for 20 mins then they go back to stuttering , the funny thing is this is the 3rd set I’ve received , as I sent the first 2 back thinking they were faulty , but it seems there is a fault with all of them after reading the posts on here

is there a fix or do send these ones back and except it’s a problem with this model if done and buy something else .

I’ve tried to do a few of the fixes on this post especially in the settings with the Audio format  and change to PCM it clears it a little ,but not perfect , , I can see with done if the more technical responses , it seems more in depth with compatibility issues with the other suggestions , which I don’t fully understand .

in layman’s terms , is there a fix yes or no , or do I send back and buy something reluctantly away from Sony
