Hi I have a Sony Vaio TP1E with Widows Vista installed, I have bought Window 7 Family pack to upgarde to and the disc is not being recognised. I have tried other disc in the drive such as Office 2007 and these are recognised, I have also tried the disc in another PC and it is being recognised there, also checked in the Auto-play menu and reset all to default and still the disc is not recognised.
The disc makes no attempt to auto-play and also if I go into explorer and click on the drive with the disc in the drive the drive opens and the message comes up please inset a disc. I have also set the BIOS to run first from the DVD drive and started up with the Windows 7 disc in the drive, it does seem to be trying to run the disc trying for several minutes before giving up. It seems to me that the sensor is not picking up the signal although it does on other program discs
Help please
Regards
Kelvin
Welcome to ClubVaio Kelvinmc,
As you report, the same driver is able to read other discs... I should consider that this specific disc has a defect.
If you want, I can contact Sony/ClubVaio to send a new disc for you.
Please, let me know...
Hi - Thanks for the welcome and reply, I have tried the Windows 7 disc in my 2 other computers and the set-up programs loads OK, also I bought Windows 7 from PC World and not Sony, it does seem to me that the problem is the sensitivity of the drive lens and I wandered if anyone had overcome this problem before. I have seen this problem written about on other forums with Sony laptops but not with Windows 7, but have seen no solutions.
Kelvinmc,
From my side, I just can be in touch with Sony to send you a new set of discs....
Thanks I have managed to install Windows using a pen drive folllowing the method detailed on the following link
