VPC L11S1E/S Windows 7 graphics driver (nVidia) update

New to Club Vaio
Is anybody else having problems updating this driver its almost 120 MB to download, I have tried 3 times to install and each time it uninstalls the old driver but does not install the new. This then involves a restore as all else fails. I contacted Sony after the first fail and said I would try again later because it deletes the file. They then closed the case, I have sent an e-mail but to date have not received a reply. Am I the only person having this problem???

Hi motorhomer,

welcome to Club VAIO..

Have you followed these instructions on how do I perform the update?

1. Download the updated driver.
2. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
3. Select "nVidia Drivers", and click the Change/Remove button
4. Click on Next / OK / Go to finish the uninstallation.
5. Reboot the VAIO
6. Locate the downloaded file in the location you specified, and double-click it.
7. Wait while the wizard updates your software, and follow the instructions.
8. When the installation is complete, restart the VAIO.

Hi Thalamus

Sorry to say but it failed. It reverted back to a standard VGA adapter so again a restore was needed.

Thanks again

Hi motorhomer,

See if you're able to install the drivers manually..

Place your graphics drivers in a folder something like C:\Drivers\video2.

Complete points 1 to 5 from the instructions above.

Click the windows key + R and type devmgmt.msc and press OK,

Click continue on the UAC window if it appears,

Device Manager window should open, double click Display adaptors.

Right click once on the default graphics and select properties.

Select the 'Driver' tab and click on Update driver.

Click Browse my computer for driver software and browse to the folder C:\drivers\video 2,

Click Next and follow the Wizard to installs the new drivers

Click Finish when the installation complete screen appears

Restart the computer to finish

Hi Thalamus
Thanks again for your reply. I should mention first I am using the downloaded file that Vaio Update downloaded and not direct from Nvidia. It failed, when I clicked next at C:\my file location. The dialogue box said THE BEST DRIVER SOFTWARE FOR YOUR DEVICE IS ALREADY INSTALLED. (standard VGV). So back to square one
Thanks for your efforts
