I've got a RX301 Vaio which came with Norton Antivirus 2002 preinstalled.
However, if I actually install Norton I cannot access the Internet and the machine freezes along with other faults such as programs 'not responding' as soon as you start them up. When I uninstall the program these problems just disappear and everything is fine!
I had it suggested to me that maybe the preloaded version installed by Sony was corrupt so I got hold of Norton AntiVirus 2003, did a system restore and installed it. This time the program just wouldn't start displaying the error message 'Norton experienced an internal error, please uninstall and reinstall'. I followed these instructions, but it made no difference. Arrrrrghhh!
Norton 2002 & 2003 are compatible with Windows XP, so am I right in thinking the fault has something to do with Sony?
If anyone can shed some light on this, that would be grate!
