Problems with my vaio W-series netbook

Hi all,
Just got a w series netbook. I set it up two days ago and each time i boot it, it goes on 'updating...'mode. its takes forever to open a window (i get up, make a cup of tea and come back and still wait :slight_frown: ) plus it also freezes all the time and the base gets quite hot within minutes. Is anyone else having these problems with this series and are there any suggestions on what to do?

Will appreciate responses.

Hi Maluks,

welcome to Club VAIO..

As your Vaio's new I would suggest your do a system recovery, using the Vaio recovery centre.

If the problem persists then either contact vaio support, the first thing they'll probably suggest is to do system recovery anyway, or return your vaio to the retailer.

Hi Thalamus,
you have been most helpful, thanks a lot.
i suppose i need to get an external disk drive and save settings in order to do system recovery or buy recovery disk as i have not done this already. sorry to impose but what will be the best way to go?

Thanks a lot.

Hi maluks,

You should be able to recover your Vaio back to the original installed OS and programs just as it was when you first used your Vaio using the idden HDD partition..

To do this Start your Vaio and when you see the Vaio logo screen press F10 repeatedly this normally would start the recovery process..
