Pioneer BD Drive Does Not Recognize DVD-R

Hey Guys!

I was recommend to create this thread by club vaio experts and share the experience.

Hey.

Just got ny new
Sony Vaio VGN-AW41ZF/B and i just noticed that the bd drive wot recognize DVD-R. The specs say that it should.
I´ve read elsewhere that people have problem with that.
I´ve tried to google for a firmware update for the bd drive Pioneer BDR-TD01.
But NADA.

Tried Verbatim/Sony/TDK - DVDR/RW disks and the drive wont read them.
Tried Verbatim/Sony/TDK + DVDR/RW works like a charm.

This is a luxury problem :smileygrin: , but a problem nonetheless.

Called vaio support and got to speak with an english speaking tech lady.
She didnt state her name or anything. case number 4363517
She said that everything was my fault and wouldnt listen to a word i said.
She recommeded a full sys recovery. (Now done and the problem still exsist)


And at the end of the call she didnt even say bye instead she forgot to hangup and complained to her colleague that i was the worst swede she´d ever spoken to and i was so annoying and difficult.
This is not what you expect when you buy such an expensive notebook.

Anways i called up again and got to speak to a tech in my own language.
Now the service level was way better and bottom line was that either they could replace the drive for me or that i´d hade to live with it and await new firmware.

I´m a bit dissapointed that they couldn´t even give me some sort of compensation for that incredible rude tech.

Anyways im very happy with the response i got from Club vaio experts at facebook.

I can't believe this, this PIONEER drive is terrible....only know have i discovered this topic and decided to test it, besides the problem i reported with CD-R media, my drive also doesn't recognize DVD-R media!

I tested TDK DVD+R, and it worked fine (albeit a bit slower recording than typical 8x), but i also can confirm it doesn't recognize TDK DVD-R...
