Loosing Internet Access

Hi, I have a Vaio VGN-FW31M laptop, and I must say compared to my old HP laptop, it is not as good. The picture is not as good as my old HP, and worse since I upgraded to Windows 7, I keep loosing internet access. It remains connected to my router, and I can print wirelessly. But on a regular basis, I get the yellow triangle of death, that means no internet access again. This problem is slowly driving me up the wall. I have installed all the latest drivers Sony recommend, and checked all the settings are correct. The worst part is, my son has a Acer laptop with upgraded Windows 7 installed, using the same router, and he can surf 24/7 without any problems. Has anybody had this problem, and more important found a solution? Thanks in advance. WS

Hi WeatherStation and welcome.

Firstly, do you have the updated Intel Wireless driver Version 12.4.3.9 installed? You can download it from here: -

This usually cures the problem but if not, go to the Intel download site and try the latest driver there for Win7.

Hi Blencogo. Thanks for link and info. I downloaded a driver direct from Intel ver 13.0 etc. The problem was better after the download, but I still loose the internet connection on a regular basis. What I can not understand is why my son has no problems with Windows 7 and the internet, he never looses his connection. So it would seem that it is a Sony Vaio problem. Also my desktop, which is running XP never loses the internet connection. If you have any other idea's, I would appreciate them. Perhaps I need to check all the settings I have found again. If you know what the settings should be, I would appreciate that information. Then at least I would have something to check against. Thanks very much for you help. WS
