I upgraded my Vaio from Vista to Windows 7. Note this was an upgrade not a clean install. Everything is working great except for when I try to hook up my Vaio via HDMI to watch Blu-ray discs.
Firstly, the monitor now only offers 720 resolution. With Vista it used to offer 1080 and 720.
Secondly, and most problematic, when you press FN + F7 to select 'HDMI only' the Vaio screen doesn't turn off so I'm left with both the TV and Vaio screen on. This is creating major problems with WinDVD as it will not allow Blu-ray discs to be played on a PC monitor and a TV screen at the same time. I get a message saying "your display environment does not support protected content playback".
Is there a driver that I'm missing to enable the FN+F7 keys to work properly again so when I select HDMI only the PC screen actually does turn off?
Cheers for any help!
Well I found out that 1080 is only offered when in 'HDMI only' mode. So I just need to find out how to make the monitor turn off when I select HDMI only?
I have a FW vaio with Windows 7. I watch 1080p movies through hdmi cable and when I do this, I just plug-in the hdmi in the notebook, I choose Screen resolution from right clicking on desktop and then I select from Display "Show only on second" and that's it. The notebook monitor goes black and I see the desktop on my tv screen.
Cheers. I'll give that a go.
