Sony KDL49XG7093 USB USB Ports
I have recently bought the above TV but I am having trouble with USB connections. Whether I put a HDD or flash drive in to view photos etc - nothing happens. The accompanying guide is a waste of time as it doesn't even mention USB connections. Anybody any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Try pressing HOME on the remote to bring up the home screen on the TV. Scroll down to Media then select Photos etc

Find out which format your USB devices are, my Sony TV (2018 model) only accepts NTFS, FAT32 and FAT16 formatted disks. FAT16 can only play files less than 2GBs and FAT32 can only play files less than 4GBs, which is useless in the
4k world, NTFS is the best option as there is no file size restriction. Check here, https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/televisions/xg7002-series/specifications?cpint=SG_PRODUCT_DETAILS...
scroll down to USB Drive Format Support, use the left and right arrows to identify your particular model.
To find out what format your USB device is you will need to insert it into your computer and get information on the disk that way.
