Xperia 1.6 Keyboard

Xperia 1.6 Keyboard

Guys, do you remember when Xperia X10i was released with 1.6 OS, it had a keyboard, which had auto/intelligent prediction words.

For example: When I type How...., it would suggest 'are' 'is', and when I select 'are', it will prompt 'you', etc.

Remember that 1.6 OS keyboard?

This is not available in 2.1. I purchased Smart Keyboard Pro, and it's not available in that too. It doesn't predict.

Will Swift Keyboard help me get my requirement?

Please share your thoughts.

To remember that 1.6 OS Keyboard in my Xperia, I used to write a big sentence (eg: I love my Xperia but after it stopped their plan to upgrade, I feel frustrating). When I want to write again something similar sentence again, it will recall from my last typed sentence. For example, when I again type I, it will prompt in order like 'love', 'my' 'xperia' 'but', .....

I would like to have such keyboard again. Where? Please help.

Strange ....

My Android 2.1 keyboard is capable of doing that. I am using the Default input, it is able to learn/suggest words.

Maybe check your settings, goto Settings>Language & keyboard>Default input>Quick text settings, tick Learn words and Next word suggestions.

Hope this is what you are looking for. Slightly_smiling_Face

Copy answer from your same query on another thread....

If you long press for Input Method do you get the choice of the Chinese Keyboard, cos this is actually in English either T9 or qwerty and does the predictive thing I think.

I just typed I love and it gave me 'me us you'

I wonder if it learns as you go along?  I don't know for sure but anyway if you have it on your phone it might be worth playing with before trying another app.

And for Gwhispererz... my default one doesn't unless it takes time to build up a history of your writing style? (I don't use it, I'm a HTC_IME girl!)

Just typed 'Hello how are' and it gave me adw as a suggestion... which is nice but not exactly what I was looking for!  I will use it for a few days (if it doesn't drive me mad) and see how it goes.

I do like the little swipe bar thing for editing tho!

Edit... don't like the fact that I have to change keyboard for symbols and numbers, in HTC_IME you long press as they are above the letters on each key.

I see. Through my hard work and patience, mine is pretty 'well trained' :smileymischief:, predicted most of my 'moves'.

However, the fact is I am the one that didn't learn (can't teach old dogs new tricks). I type out everything. Dizzy_Face

Yup, I understand that feeling. Resistance to change .... Can't teach old dogs new tricks .... :smileymischief:

Hi guys, thanks for responding. I never knew this.

I selected my default keyboard and typed 3 times, "hello how are you" and when I typed the 4th time starting with "hello, it prompted me 'how', 'are', 'you'.

This was what I was looking for.

Thank you very very much. I was so dumb, that I purchased Smart Keyboard Pro.

Anyways, SKP has lots of other customization like aut-text adding, which makes my emailing and texting much faster Slightly_smiling_Face

And for the sake of 'text prediction', I purchased 'Swift Keys', and believe me, its dumb. I didn't like it, compared to SKP.

Anyways, how can I add the punctuation like (question mark, comma, etc), though double space hitting gives a full stop. Any ideas?

Thank you once again.

You are not wrong it is learning, if I type 'I love' now I get you after it.  And 'How are' I also get you.  That is the crux of the matter isn't it, when the machine learns faster than its operator... well then we are the ones that are in trouble!!! You do learn something new every day and the keyboard is it for me, I can now switch my brain off.

And we will stop hijacking Benzmars thread and hope he has found what he is looking for between us!

You have to press the 12!? key bottom left.

Welcome, this is what this Forum is for, helping each other!

Just play around with the bottom 2nd icon (smiley 12!?), while you are in there, you can tap the 1|2 (2nd bottom roll, 1st one) for more symbols.

Have fun.
