Ported number

I ported my phone number onto this phone but the "Myself" contact hasn't changed to reflect this change.  How do I do it?

Thanks for your suggestions guys... I tried this and it didn't work, still stuck with the original sim number!?!?! It shows the ported number ok as my caller ID when I make calls and I can have the ported number as an additional number but it still shows the original sim number on the phone status and on the myself contact - can't get rid of it argh!!!

Did this new ported number actually show up (when pressing the volume button from stand by) on the Java phone that you used?

I'm sorry I don't understand the bit about pressing the volume button from standby.  I have an old SE W705. I put the sim card in there and the number that appears as "My Number" is the original sim number not my ported one. I manually entered the ported number into the contact and saved it then tried it in my SE Experia Arc but still comes up as original sim number. Put SIM back into the W705, tried to edit the contact through "contact - options - special numbers - my number"  as I read this in another post but I am not able to edit it, I only have the option to press OK and return to the special numbers menu. I have tried changing the number in my son's Samsung Tocco but again no joy. I have also tried putting my old sim into my Arc but My Number contact comes up as unknown. Might just give up - have spent too long on this already - I know its not a big issue, but is a very annoying niggly thing!!!

That's strange as I recently edited My number, in the way you described it, to a ported number on my W995, which is very similar to the W705, and it now appears as my number in the information window when pressing the volume button from stand-by.Perhaps your W705 is a branded handset and is customised in a way that doesn't allow you to change the number.Or perhaps it depends on the SIM card in question as the original number (before porting the new number to it) was missing from the contacts sub-menu.
