Hi,
I bought a new xperia x8 few days a go. But i am having an issue with the built in memory card of the phone. When I tried to copy some music tracks to the sd card, about 75% of the tracks are corrupted after copying.I have tried with differnt mp3 files and most of them are not played after copied to the SD card.I believe this is a problem in the SD card, not in the phone.Could any one tell me what should i do for this?
Will the poblem solve if i format the SD card? But there are some predefined folders inside the SD card and some of them are related with different applications of andriod OS.
Is it ok to take a copy of this folders and paste it later In case, if i formatted the SD card?
Can some one helpme with this issue?:smileyconfused:
Solved! Go to Solution.
formating your SD card should NOT affect the phone itself
if I were you I would backup and sync my phone
this is how

then use PC Companion or Update Service to repair your phone
make sure to take out the SD and SIM cards before the update/repair
if that doesn't solve the issue then reformat the SD card
try this
settings -> applications -> manage applications -> all -> music once here clear everything
also try another music player and see if you have the same problem

transfer the music back to your Computer and play it, do you hear any distortion or any problems with it?
if you want to format make sure you delete the music folder (assuming that you have a backup of those music files)
then
to reformat your SD card
if you want to preserve all the files from your SD card (most likely you know how to do this)
put the SD card on another phone
ok on your PC
1) open any folder -> click on tools -> properties -> view -> show hidden files
2) mount your phone with the SD card, go to your SD card, press Ctrl + A then Ctrl C, on your desktop create a new folder, open it, then press CTRL + V
3) formate your SD card
4) mount the SD card, open the folder you just created, press Ctrl + A then Ctrl C, open your SD card, Ctrl + V
Hi ,
Thank you very much for your quick response and guidance. But i think the problem is not with the audio player of the phone.
All the music tracks are playing without any problem, when it is inside the hard drive of the computer.
Then i copied same set of files into the SD card and tried to play them inside the PC (Using Windows Media Player)Then it shows the message that these files are corrupted.
I can try out with the steps that you have provided for formatting the SD card. But I have a doubt whether this will affect to the Phone OS(Because inside the SD card ican see some folders named as Android,DCIM...etc)
Could you please tell me whether the formatting of the SD card will affect to the OS of the phone?
Thanks
