Add words to dictionary in Xperia Neo

How do I add new words to the dictionary on my Xperia Neo?

If you type in the word you want to add then long press on that word you will receive an option to add to dictionary.

Ok so my next question is...why aren't my added words coming up in the list of words when I'm writing a SMS? How do I access the words I've added in SMS mode?
