Hi,
Im hoping someone can help me.
I tried to update my xperia m4 aqua to the latest version using the xperia companion app on the pc. I connected it up and it got so far before it said it failed.
Since then the phone won't boot up. I've tried using the phone repair option through xperia companion as well but not having any luck, as it also keeps failing.
The phone now wont boot up and has a white background with sony in black writing.
It did managed to boot once but it seems that wifi and mobile network signal are not working....
Hoping someone might have a magical fix up their sleeve!
Cheers,
Dave

I had always problems to update my Xperia M4 with windows 10 and it did not work (I tried it x times with different sony software versions)
Now it works and I can tell you what is the difference
a.) I have the latest windows 10 installed with all service packs and patches
b.) 2 weeks ago I tried it again and installed the latest updated of the sony companion software
c.) My laptop has USB 3.0 interfaces (only)
d.) I created a new back-up with sony software
e.) I put my phone in airplane mode to avoid any update of apps during the whole process
f.) My phone had 2 GB internal memory free, SD card and applications move to SD card (normal SD card mode so that it can be accessed by computer, not the special format which is available for Android 6.0)
One of the difference that I noticed is that the why you turn off and turn and connect the phone to the laptop is slightly different from the past. I followed the instruction 100%. from the sony software.
The final start-up of the phone is very slow since it optimizes all applications (in may case 93, so may take 30 minutes).
After all the update I reconnected the network. The phone requested to update google play service but this did not work at the beginning. Some apps (all from sony) were starting their update and this screwed it up. In few words the update of google play service was starting but than it was hanging and it was just 36MB.
So I updated these apps from sony, stopped the update of google play service, went to google play store and stopped all other apps to get updated. The update of the sony apps were quite slow (I think 1 hour).
Then I restarted my phone and started the google play service update (phone asks until it is done) This time it went without any problem and fast. Later on I updated all other apps.
The complete update procedure took me 3 hours (time from starting to load the update to the phone). The biggest waste of time was to figure out why the google play update was hanging and not progressing.
I assume that installing sony updates and google play service at the same time creates the issue.
I checked internet and so on to figure out what could be done. On my own I had the idea to stop google play service update and do the other updates first since some of the updates were not from google play service and it worked out. These apps I am talking about are directly from Sony (support etc) nothing else.
I hope this will give all others a clue who struggle with the update procedure.
