Have had the following problems since I bought the phone in Feb
1) Random freeze/lock up which doesnt go away unless i force reboot the phone
2) Sometimes refuses to connect to wifi (or disconnects from wifi) especially if phone was asleep unless i reboot phone
3) When on wifi sometimes will just stop receiving data (also only fixed by rebooting)
Anyone know how to fix this?
Try performing a software repair using PC Companion (click on blue link for a full guide). You'll need to backup any important data on internal memory before you start this.
Yeah I did that already. Still got the same problem.
So I purchased the m5 dual in January of this year. After about a week I noticed that every now and again it would freeze up. I emailed about it and was told to do a system repair. No problem did the repair. Still getting lock ups. I emailed for assistance. Got run around for months until finally I asked if I could bring it in for repair. When they checked the IMEI on I was told that I would have to contact the Malaysia branch. Upon contacting them I was told that I would have to ship it to them (at my own expense) and then pay for the return shipping. This was ending up comming up to almost the price of the phone so I didnt bother. Fast forward to July the phone is now 6 months old and still freezes up. Phone updates to marshmellow and then the next day crashes and refuses to get past the sony logo. Did a system restore it worked for 2 days and then back to constant boot cycle. Contact sony about it and they say they cant do anything unless I ship phone to Malaysia as they will not honor the warranty in United States or Canada. Check the price to ship phone to Malaysia $200 US. Yeah So that not happening. In the end I realised that my venture to try sony phones over samsung was a waaste of money as I ended up just having to buy another new phone because Sony were too pissy about there regions. Never again.
I'm sorry to hear that but that's correct, if you bought the phone in Malaysia, the warranty it's only good there.
bought the phone in America. How was I supposed to know that the dual sim version was from Malaysia
Where did you bought that phone? if it wasn't from Sony and/or a physical store such as Fry's, bestbuy, etc, but online, maybe ebay, or amazon, you will have to handle that with them.
I am really sad when i see Sony produces these low quality products. i think Sony is no longer the Sony i knew for years.
I bought a M5 xperia and its a complete, awful experience indeed. I wonder how Sony doesnt payback the money or change M5 with a new product. If Sony wants to compete with others they shall be responsible for these products as i will never buy another product from Sony, I promise.
