Regarding this article this should work, but I can not get it to work. Anyone that have tips?
Why not switch off the Sony bloatware and make it deletable? The people decided to choose Sony hardware for quality, price, whatever. Let people decide what software they want to use instead of forcing the bloatware that people do not want to use and takes lots of space. What you are actually doing is forcing people to choose not to but Sony which is determental to the company. It maybe the case that creating a 8GB smartphone phone and loading with undeletable software is for a smartphone "not fit for purpose".
This solution is too easy and useful, so it will not happen.
Hello.
This has been a topic since release.
Since programs like facebook, messenger etc are increasing in size, I actually have to disable a lot of the pre installed programs that i have no use for just to get them working. Most of them in which when possible are stored on the SD card.
BUT, will sony open up for merging the memory so SD card will be available for the internal flash ram ?
Best regards
Hi @Frikk,
Welcome to the community!
I'm afraid that this will not be possible. You can use your SD-card as portable storage in your phone in order to store certain apps, photos and other media. The option to format an SD-card as internal storage was removed as it impacted software encoding and quality.
I'm sorry for any trouble that this may cause, I can forward whatever feedback you may have about this.
If you root your phone it is possible, and it was running nice for me in android 5.
The problems is that I only can download 4-5 apps before the memory is full After flashing my phone and after storing them at the SD card. Even the apps were slower running them from Andoid 5, it was working.
@Didrik,
I will firstly echo the comments of others here who have lamented the lack of adoptable storage on the M4 - given its paltry onboard memory. If Sony can be persuaded to support this feature, it will definitely influence the purchase of my next phone positively.
I will also add that your comment about 'certain' apps being storable on the SD card is more than slightly ironic. I've recently bought an RM-X7BT bluetooth remote for the car - and it works very nicely with the M4. However, why on earth is the 250MB+ of voice samples included in its app not storable on SD Card? Again, given how storage limited the phone is, that's taking the proverbial.
If you can feed this back to the app development team on the X7BT, that would be much appreciated.
