Happened to me yesterday and Ive tried so hard fix the problem. Ive found temporary fix, should work for you guys, but still it doesnt solve the whole problem.
My front camera had problems since almost beginning (have this phone for 30 days only now!!!) - due to overheating (when the phone is only slightly warm, I only use it to text, call, instagram and photos!) it was showing purple lines, stopping and crashing. Yesterday the front camera button disappeared completely.
What Ive done was:
Clearing cache - no help.
Factory reset - no help.
Safe boot - no help.
Xperia Companion, fix + new Marshmallow system - no fix! BUT!!! I cleared cache once more, removed my sd card, force stopped the camera app, then I turned off my phone. I cooled it down using my laptop cooling mat. When I opened it the front cam button was there again. Working - but when phone gets SLIGHTLY warm the front camera stops working as well as back camera sometimes. Cant reboot it sometimes, only pressing slighly near the camera lenses while rebooting app help!
Tell me its not a hardware issue...
So now I have a choice: give the phone to the service and let them give it back to me, wait few months and problem appears again. Or use the front camera when the phone is cooled down.
Thats a shame sony. I picked this phone only because it had nice parameteres in it's class and price range and I was quite content with my previous Xperia M2 (not mentioning front cam, it was a disaster).
Yes, unfortunately.
I'm giving it for warranty repair.
Have someone here done it before? Any *positive* results?
Hi @Sallyannecinnamon, I'm sorry to hear that.
I recommend that you get your device examined further at an authorised service center. You can contact your Local support team for more information on how you can proceed with this.
Hi @Paul771, I'm sorry to hear this.
Have you tried performing a software repair using Xperia Companion? If this does not solve this then I recommend that you contact your Local support team in order to get your phone sent in for repair.
Hi @matei2112, I'm sorry to hear this.
Since a software repair didn't help I recommend that you get your device examined by an authorised service center. You can contact your Local support team for more information on how to proceed with this if need be.
