Wireless connection BDP- S570

Please help!

I have just purchased a BDP-S570 but despite following all the steps correctly to connect wirelessly to my router I have been unable to, the message just comes back failed.

This is proving incredibly frustrating, does anybody know what i am doing wrong?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi, I would first recommend you visit http://www.sonydigital-link.com/tvhc/downloads/downloads.aspx?site=odw_en_GB&f=BDPS470_570_v708&m=BD... and download the latest update.

Once complete if you still have problems, check that the network setting give to the player by your router match the rest of the network, this can be done on your PC by looking up the IP address, Mac Address and Gateway

They should look like

IP Address - 192.168.0.10 (sequencial last number)

Mac Address - 255.255.255.0

Gateway - 192.168.1.1 (IP of your router)

If the do not match you will have problems, you may need to reset your router or check your IP range has enough free lots on the router.

I hope this helps

Hi Madmax123

I just purchased the S570 too and am having exactly the same issues as you seemingly were. Completly frustrating!

Any chance you found out what the issue was and can enlighten me?

Thanks,

Looks like this could be a common problem!

I spent ages last night trying to do this setup myself.  Plugged all sorts of variations of numbers in the the BD and kept getting error messages.

Plugged in an ethernet cable for now, so will try the update and see if the wireless works again.

One thing i did notice on the online help just now, is to check there is no interference.

I have an RF transmitter on my Sky box, directly below BDP so might try turning that off and see if i can find my router.

My phone detects at least 6 nearby routers, but the BDP was showing 0.

Will let you know if it makes a difference.

Just a quick update.

I turned off the RF sender which i was using on my Sky box, and as if by magic, the BDP found my router, and set itself up automatically in a matter of seconds.

I have heard that the RF sender units can sometimes interfere with broadband, though this is the first time i have noticed a problem.

I guess the wireless aerial is at the back of the BDP so i would check for any interference around that as a first point.

Let me know how you get on.

Interesting post - indeed first time I've heard of a real life scenario of wi-fi signals being hindered by an RF sender. The Wi-Fi on these devices is usually pretty good out the box having set many of them up in the past.

Thanks for posting back.

Hi, I've a BDP-S570, I live in Italy.
I had exactly the same problem. I followed the procedure specified by matowen90 and now the device works. I have in the same bookshelf the Blue Ray, the Sky Box and an RF sender.
With the RF sender switched off, the WLAN receiver of the Blu Ray works properly.
It is strange anyhow, because the same RF sender, when switched on, does not interfere with the WLAN receiver of my Nintendo Wii, that is on the same bookshelf too.

Regards,
D.
