SMP-N100 Error message when connecting a WD external drive

Hello. I d like to help me out.

I have a new external usb drive (wd passport usb 3) that has a usb to micro usb cable, with movies pictures and music in it. my nettbook and my desktop computers recognize it and play fine.

When i connect the drive to the smp media usb port, i get the message that the external device is not recognized. Then in the media player menu it shows me 2 usb port icons. the first one has an X sign, but the second icon has the usb sign and under it writes LUN1. If i select this all the files play just fine!

is it a way to fix this?. its very annoying to have this error message all the time i open the media player

thanks and a happy new year to all!!

Dimitris

Try it by not using the USB, mine is a WD NAS with ethernet to my router.  then wireless to the SMP.  Works fine.  Worth a try.

ok!

how you do this?

the cable in the WD is micro USB to USB,  and on the back of  my router there are 3 (10/100 Mbps) fast ethernet slots.

do i need a kind of adapter to change from male usb  to ethernet?

And then will all the movies, escpecially the 1080p mkv will play smoothly wireless??

MY wirelless connection runs at 8mbps

thanks
