Just purchsed a Sony BDP-S4100 3D Blu-Ray player but it will not play either of the included two Harry Potter films. They both play up to the main menu and then the machine's remote stops working.
It's as if the machine crashes because the remote will not fuction at all, I'm forced to turn off the machine via the button the actually box.
The machine plays normal DVDs fine. I've got no other Blu-Rays to test, but the two included do not play. I've updated the firmware so is the box faulty?
Thanks,
Matt
Hi there
As you have updated the firmware, the only other thing I can suggest is to reset the player back to factory default. Sometimes this can cure any "gremlins".
Cheers
EDIT: Also run the network update once more, just incase there is another one
Just found out the problem is with the TV! The 3D glasses passive detector interfers with the Sony remote. If I switch the TV to 2D mode, the Sony remote works.
Any idea how I fix this?
Thanks,
M.
Thats rather unusual, unfortuately I dont have a solution for you.
Apparently Sky HD remotes are also effected. I've found a few solutions:
- use the Panasonic TV remote with Viera Connect <-- this is the easiest solution!
- use Sony's Android app as the remote
- cover the bottom of the TV (where the IRs are) with DVD cases
- switch to 2D on the TV

I forgot about the media remote
