KD-55X8509C cannot record

Just purchased a new Sony KD-55X8509C TV and I cannot record my didgital programs due to my TV needing a software update, this is terrible, why have Sony sent out a part working TV. This should be working out of the Box and not having to wait for a software update. I have been onto Sony support and they cannot even tell me when this update will be out. Can somebody from Sony go and find out WHY this has happened and tell me when I will be able to record from my TV, if not I will go back too PC World and get my money back as this is not exceptible.

Hi I have just bought a Sony KDL-65W855C and i have exactly the same problem as you as in I also need a Software Update to record from my Freeview HD TV Channels. I can register my USB HDD to Record to BUT then it says I need a software Update when I try to record anything, COME ON SONY, SORT IT OUT AS THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE...
