I use the soundbar as a HT amplifier to play videos from my Minix media player over hdmi to my TV. It works perfectly with all of the video/audio codec combinations, except one. When i attempt to play an HEVC (X265) video, the sound is badly distorted.
I've tried playing the same film to the same TV using a different media player and the audio is still distorted- so it's not the media player. I can also play the same film to the same TV via my Marantz HT receiver and the audio is fine, so it's not the film.
It does seem as if the problem is with the HT-RT5 (or possibly the HDMI cable??). Can anybody help, please? Thanks.
Have you checked if there's an update for it? And did you try differet connections and ports?
Thanks for the reply. I did recently update the firmware, but i'll check again. By " try different connections and ports", do you mean try a different HDMI input on the HT-RT5?
Firmware is the latest and changing inputs made no difference. I think it may just be a shortcoming of the HT-RT5's capabilities. Strange though that DTS is not a problem on other (X264) files.
It's unfortunate but yea I think so too.
