Hi,
I bought a new Sony blu ray last week (S3700/S1700). However the remote will not turn it on or off or open tray or... anything really. The remote will work the TV however - which is an old (c10years old) Sony Bravia. Other posts suggest it might be a sync issue, but I can't find any button or route on the TV bravia remote that gets me to any 'sync' commands. So presently the only way to start up the blue ray is to disconnect it at the back, and then reinsert the power lead, the power light then comes on for about 10 seconds, during which time the remote works. If in that time you can open the tray and get it going it stays going. But as soon as the disc is finished after a minute or so the blu ray turns of and the remote will not start it up again. Is it a sync issue or some other issue, or is my blu ray faulty and needs returning within the 14 days? Help please!

Hi Akimeth,
Since the remote control works momentarily, I don't think anything is wrong with it. If you're unable to go to the settings menu at all to try to reset the player, I think the unit could be faulty in this case.

Hi, thanks for the info. My blu ray player failed at the first hurdle. Once it turns itself off (the green light goes off) it will not start at all, either by the remote OR by pressing the 'on' 'off' switch at the front of the unit. The only way to get it to start is to disconnect it and re connect it. Then it comes on and can be used for a short time. But once it turns itself off. it's off!
