I own a Sony Walkman NW-A45 and have installed Sony's Music Centre for PC on two PC's - one running Windows 10 and the other running Windows 7.
On Windows 10, the programme opens with a message reading 'contents not found'. I've used the 'menu - import folder' option in an attempt to load music files and nothing happens. I'm therefore unable to load music into my Walkman using the programme. I've found that I can copy and paste files onto the Walkman via Windows, but the files are loaded without the properties needed to use the SenseMe function on the device correctly. I've uninstalled/re-installed the programme both with and without PC restarts and the problem remains - 'contents not found'.
On Windows 7, the programme opens and I'm able to use it to acquire the properties needed to use SenseMe before the programme itself regularly crashes after 4- 5 minutes. I then receive a Windows error message reminding me that the programme has stopped working correctly.
I've been in touch with Sony customer services and the 'solution' is to 'try installing Music Centre for PC on another Windows 10 PC'. This isn't really very realistic - I mean how many PC's do you think I can afford?
With an older Sony NWZ-A15 Walkman, the SenseMe analysis is carried out on the device itself which negates the need for acquiring properties on either Media Go or Music Centre for PC. With the newer NW-A45 this is not possible - the player requires properties to be added via the programme before the SenseMe function will work correctly.
Does anyone have any advice on how I'm able to get Music Centre for PC working correctly using on either of my two PC's?
Okay, well, personally, I have the same issue with both versions 2.3.0 and the older 2.1.0, albeit the second gets slightly further through a task before surreptitiously closing itself.
Guess I'll just have to go for a third-party app!
Just bought a NW-A55L player. Have the exact same problem... When I want to transfer music to my device, it does 1 song and then the Music Center for PC just closes, no message nothing...
Hi LV1988,
Have you tried reinstalling the app, or alternatively, tried the app on a different machine if you have access to one?
I posted on this back in July 2019 - it's obviously generated some debate on this forum.
I originally installed Sony's Music Centre for PC on two PC's - one running Windows 10 and the other running Windows 7. After installing on Windows 10 - 'contents not found'. On Windows 7 the programme regularly crashed after 4-5 minutes. I uninstalled/re-installed the programme both with and without PC restarts and the problems remained. As I mentioned in my original post, I contacted Sony and was advised to try installing it on yet another PC - I found this advice to be fairly exasperating as well as dull.
Given that a number of other users seem to have encountered similar problems, personally I gave up on it some time ago and uninstalled it on both PC's. Seems to me that unless Sony start showing an interest here that the programme is unfit for purpose.
for the record - I eventually got version 2.3.0 to work on the same Windows 10 PC it kept crashing on. What did I do? Even though I am the main user on the PC and have full administrator rights - I reset the security rights of all my Music Centre music files and all the files in the Music Centre directory to give my specific named account full access (even though administrator accounts already had full access). Suddenly - no crashing and the program works as it should. Go figure.
HI - that's sounds a long/tricky task - how did you manage to reset the security rights of all your files?
Im using windows 8.1 and I am having pretty much the same problem. No matter what action I make in the program if freezes up and either completes the task a minute or more later or completely crashes the program. It is pretty frustrating since the walkman is at a pretty high price point and I cant even use it properly because it needs me to use this program or I cant add new music.
Hi, it’s not optional for using legacy material on Atrac and it’s very disappointing that Sony have not dealt with this issue in windows 8/10 which appears to be caused by a Microsoft security upgrade. I have the recent version and it crashes whenever I attempt to transfer a track or copy a Cd
