Video Recording at 720p?

The highest option I get on the video recording is 800x600. How do I get 720p, or is that as high as it goes?

I got the place I bought it from to admit that it doesn't do 720p, and they offered me $100 credit, rather than refund. So it definitely doesn't do 720p as advertised, both on this website, and the site of where I bought it. Credit isn't much use to me though, I'd have preferred to take back the phone or give me actual money back.

I'll be contacting the regulatory body that takes false advertising claims very seriously, and all the box packaging from where I bought it, and their website, will have to be changed. I'm going to assume a refund will be happening too. A shame really, I kind of liked this phone. I'll probably be buying the M instead. Slightly more expensive, but definitely does do 720p.

It says here: http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/phones/xperia-e1/specifications/#tabs that it does. I thought perhaps mine was defective, or some kind of region specific thing.

Seems like false advertising. I'm trying to get my money back on mine and thinking about getting something else instead.

If the Xperia E1 can only record at WVGA at 30fps, is it possible to playback HD movies such as youtube video 720P?

because the specification of it tell the camera "3 MP with HD video recording (720 p)"

thanks and need advice

Yes, it plays 720p movies back just fine. The standard player will play MP4 and AVI but seems to struggle with MKV h.264 files. MX Player, that you can download from the app store for free, plays all formats just fine, as long as you have H/W+ option selected. It also plays YouTube videos fine too, but since the screen is 800x480, watching YouTube in resolutions higher than that is a waste of bandwidth.

A little update on the original reason for my starting this thread, where I bought it finally admitted that it doesn't record video at 720p and they will be sending me a refund in the mail. I've also ordered an Xperia M so I will be using that in future. The M is also cheaper than I bought the E1 for, since it's on sale, so that was a nice bonus.
