My Phone Number 'Unknown.'

My Phone Number 'Unknown.'

I bought my phone about two months ago and, noticing that all the setup process was using a vast amount of mobile data and on the basis that I had a reliable wifi connection, I turned off the mobile data on my phone so that I could do the setup process without eating into my data in case I needed it. I have, incidentally, turned mobile data back on. I'm assuming that that is the reason that when I tried to find what my phone number is (via the settings menu), my phone now tells me my phone number is 'unknown.' How on earth do I get my number back?

It's reading the data from the SIM. Programming these requires you to
A) have a really old phone,
B) Root your current phone
C) Go to your carrier's retail outlet, and demand they program your SIM

Hi @Llyarden,

As @NeoBeum wrote, this data is collected from the SIM card in your phone, so I would recommend getting in touch with your service provider (operator) and raise this question to them and they should be able to assist you, either with a new SIM card or if they can do anything directly from their end.

Edit: You can also try removing the SIM card and inserting it again in your phone!

Let us know how it goes! Slightly_smiling_Face

Just wanted to add that this occurs with almost every modern SIM now because unlike old phones carriers are sort of treating SIM cards as disposable because the phones don't really rely on the internal storage of the SIM now, for phone numbers. They only really care about the USMI that is written on the back of the card
