msc or usb mass storage mode without root?

I'm very sorry to hear that you were not able to get this information from your local support.

I'm afraid MSC-mode is not supported by Xperia E4 on the latest firmware. Also on later models like Z3+, M4 Aqua and Z5 you need to use MTP to transfer data over USB.

lol you are terrible i have written answers from sony  hungary and from sony mobile that e4 is able to connect in msc mode

so according to you they just lied to me? or at sony nobody knows the phones they sell? what a company is this??? who is the responsible person for this behavior???

I'm afraid i'm not sure why they have given you this information but i've checked an Xperia E4 on the latest firmware here and it does not support MSC.

It's not mentioned in the manual either. If you look at the manual for a model that does support MSC (for example Z3 manual) there's information on MSC and how to switch to that mode.

well, for example i have an email (in hungarian of course) from sony hungary, according to that they tested msc on an e4 and it worked for them at least they wrote me that another email where they state that msc and mtp is supported by e4.

if i accept that they were lying to me, do you think this is an acceptable behavior from sony customer support?

or here is one of your replies from sony global. they were also lying? or at sony nobody knows the phones they sell? they don't know the differences between msc and mtp? i guess at least an official apologize from sony is expected....

I do of course apologize for any inconvenience but i think they must have misunderstood what you're asking for. I doubt they would lie to you. I translated a couple of emails from your conversation with them using Google Translate and i can't say for sure but i think they are talking about file transfer over WiFi as it looks like they are referring to the pair with PC option.
I have checked a generic E4 (and also E4g) on the latest firmware and they don't have MSC-support. As you can see in the manual and our webpage, it doesn't state any support for MSC there either. On phones that does support MSC, we do provide this information (see this link for example which is for Z3).

MSC is no longer supported on several of our models. As i mentioned earlier, we no longer support it in for example Z3+, M4 Aqua or Z5-series either.

I have about 30 sent&received emails with Sony Hungary from the last two months. For example:

Me: I asked them about MSC mode.

SH: They replied that E4 has this feature, I have to enable it under Settings / Xperia Connection / USB etc...

Me: No option to enable it.

SH: They sent again and again step by step for pairing via WiFi, sometimes wrote also that this is the way to connect the phone via USB.

Me: That's for WiFi. Anyway, I give up. You were wrong, the phone doesn't support MSC mode. A guy from Sony wrote it at the support forum.

SH: We never wrote about that, we only wrote about pairing the device. (I think they still don't understand that pairing is not for a wired connection between phone&pc)

Me: I searched the mail in which they replied my question about usb mass storage mode. According to that mail, it's supported by E4, they tested it. I made a screenshot and sent them.

I'm just wondering how so far  I didn't get a stroke because of Sony after sale support.
