Stopping Timer

The LCD Screen on my DCS-HX200V has the message "Point camera at yourself to start timer" and a small incert screen I cannot get rid of.  I do not recall attempting to use a timer.

You may have accidentally activated the Self-Timer mode when trying to take a photo. It can be turned on/off by following these instructions in the user guide:

'Single Shooting' mode is the one that you are probably looking for.
