Hzrd disk recorder SVR HDT500

Hi. I have had a Sony hard disk recorder for some years now.

I recently changed my TV  and have bought an optical digital cable to connect  a Samsung soundbar to the box.

I can get the cable to fit into the soundbar  but the connection on the back of the Sony box  doesn't

seem right for the cable. Help!

Hi Mazza23 and welcome.

I think the Digital Out on the SVR HDT500 is a co-axial connection and not an optical connection. It is an electrical signal conducted by a wire.

Check your Manual here:-

I think you can get a converter box - try Amazon for ‘Digital Coaxial to optical SPDIF Toslink’

Thank you. I had to get someone to look at the set up and they said the same as you, I have got round it by attaching the soundbar to the TV and to make things easier will always use the soundbar when the TV is on as the switching to TV speakers is a bit of a complicated process on the TV that I have. I appreciate your reply.
