ARC connection

I must confess that I am not technically competent.....that said....I bought Sony Bravia tv about 3 years ago and supported this with a Yamaha sound bar.I connected these with a lead to the ARC connection.Up until now everything has worked fine until I installed the latest Sony tv update and now the sound bar has stopped working and will only work with the optical connections....I happened to have a new ARC lead which I have tried but to no avail.....Can any one tell me if the new update has altered something that I am unaware of .Also advice on what to do would be much appreciated....many thanks in advance.

It would be very helpful if you let us know the model number of your TV so we can suggest what checks to perform

Model number 49XE8396.....I thought I had replied to you but obviously the reply did not connect.The sound bar suddenly started working (unprompted)but if I turned on the tv speakers and then turned onthe sound bar the sound muted itself until I unmuted again on the sound bar remote control .Obviously this is no longer a problem.Since then I have been advised to switch the tv off at the plug for two minutes and switch back on......the sound bar is now working perfectly.However thank you for your time.It would seem to be the solution if I ever install another update
