Hi, I have the Sony 135 mm f/1.8 ZA Sonnar T and I'd love to use it with my A7RIII and A9 bodies to fully utilize their AF capabilities. Unfortunately the AF does not work with LA-EA5 and this lens on my bodies. The only adapter working with it on my bodies is the old LA-EA4 which reduces the AF to 15 points with no eye-AF, fast focusing or tracking.
Does Sony plan to extend the compatibility of LA-EA5 that the AF will work with my lens and my bodies or does it just screw A-mount lens owners and force them to buy new expensive piece of glass just by not supporting the cross-functionality?
How very strange - the product video for the EA5 features the Lens you have, but on the A7Riv.
The compatibility info on the Sony website shows it does not support Auto Focus for your lens with the A7Riii.
(But you knew this)
So I guess the issue is to do with firmware - lets hope Sony will listen (I'm thinking of getting an A7Rii - but if I don't get a benefit from the AF capabilities when using my A mount lenses I probably won't bother. Along with losing built in GPS!)
Here's Hoping
Have you tried reaching out to the Sony support reps to leave this as a feature suggestion/feedback?
