The SIM tray on the Xperia 10 iii is extremely fragile plastic, as I have found out to my cost.
I removed it to fit a new SIM, replaced it and the outer cover snapped off. I've contacted Sony for a replacement but they have said they don't directly supply spare parts. Instead I was directed to SBE in Ashford, Kent (approved repair shop) who also said they don't supply spare parts. Instead they said I had to send the whole device minus SIM cards ( which I can't do as I can't now pull the tray out ) at my expense, they would charge me £25 plus parts to then fit a new SIM tray which is totally ridiculous.
I've searched eBay etc to no avail, but have at least been given the part number by Sony...503053801
Does anyone in the UK know of any original parts suppliers? Tried my local phone shop but they were of no use.
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
Yes I found that one too, but apparently they only sell to trade.
Hi BritSparky ,
Unfortunately, Sony doesn't sell any spare parts separately and in the SIM tray case, they do request the whole phone to be sent to the repair center plus the charges.
I tried to check spare parts before but it's really hard to find any spare parts any where.
Just had the same thing happen to me. Cover for the sim card tray broke off. It's gonna cost to £65 from my local repair shop to extract the two sime cards stuck in my phone and replace the sim card tray!
For future reference, search for Sony Xperia 10 III sim card tray on eBay and you'll find plenty available
I don't think spare parts on ebay are genuine, you can't guarantee that to place it on your phone.
The parts on eBay aren't genuine? A strange thing to forge, then. I can't believe anyone is gonna get rich selling fake Xperia sim card trays!
just an update to this, my xperia 10 iii also had this probrem recently. and i was able to buy a simtray for only 3 quid online (UK)
I am going to my nearest Sony centre.
