VPCF21Z1E/BI 3D LAPTOP

Hi all, I have a Sony 3D laptop VPCF21Z1E/BI, which i built a while ago from old & new parts. I am having trouble trying to put on the screen bezel. Does anyone know if there are any build plans i could get of this model, so i can finish off putting my laptop together? I am not sure at what point, when the bezel goes on to the screen. When i tried to attach bezel onto the screen, it doesn't fit into place properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I doubt Sony would make such plans public, so unless there's some sort of 3rd-party guide somewhere on the Internet (I'm guessing you looked and didn't find any) I'd say call up the engineers for some pointers. They're usually helpful as far as I know?

Hi Joe,

Well i thought, seeing that sony don't make laptops anymore, didn't think it would be a big deal to find the build plans of this 3d laptop. No i haven't searched for them anywhere. Wouldn't know where to look online. Any pointers? Where can i find an engineer to ask these questions? If you have any links, that would be great. Thanks.

Sony doesn't make them anymore, that's true, but they'd definitely protect/keep their technology hidden, no matter how old it becomes. I did try to Google the teardown/assembly guide when I replied last time but couldn't really find anything useful, mostly old/archived reviews and such.

As for the engineers, they're easy to get a hold of since Sony has a handy locator for both the UK and Ireland (which they always share on Twitter, Facebook and the like).

That said, try giving the engineers a call, hopefully you'll be able to find the answer you're looking for simply by doing that (crossing my fingers for you my friend!).

Hi Joe,

I clicked into your UK link on Google. All i could find were repair shops. I have emailed a few, and some have got back to me, saying they don't repair laptops, so this doesn't seem to be working either. How would i find an actual engineer to help me? Would you have any other ideas? Thanks for your help. Cheers.

That's totally my bad! I should've mentioned that you'll need to use the filter option to pick Computers/laptops.

It's more rare to find them now since the Vaio line has been discontinued for so long.

Hopefully you'll have more luck with the filter!

Hi JD,

No luck there. I have already contacted the two companies from the drop down filter menu, the other day, plus a few more companies from the list, all sending me elsewhere. One company in the UK i spoke to, it turns out, i dealt with them before, i actually bought one bezel from them around 2 years ago when building my first 3D machine, lol, (which was a rip off), suggested to send the machine to them, so they could see what was wrong, and also said, they couldn't give this sort of technical support over the phone, I wonder why!! lol. 🙄  Not sure if they realize i don't live in their country, and it would cost too much with postage and the cost to put on this silly little bezel, which i could do myself if i could only get some advice, after all, i have built two of these machines in the last two years with no help (except working off an old machine), and i'm not a techie. Technically the two bezels are on both machines, but only half on. Lol. Doesn't look like i can find anyone to help me out. This is a right pain. Thanks for your help. Cheers a bunch.

That's quite the twist you find yourself in, I wish I had one so I could try and guide you through it myself (I love tinkering with stuff myself, so It'd have been a fun experiment) but I don't sadly.

Maybe try and explain your situation in case they had some sort of alternative way of helping you? Can't say I'm optimistic about it, but it might be worth a shot.
