Vaio SVE1512K1ES Laptop - VGP-BPS26 battery replacement.

I purchased a new  VGP-BPS26 from Duracell Direct and fitted it into the laptop. The red battery light just kept flashing and the laptop would not switch on. I removed the battery and plugged in the power and the laptop worked, then I added the battery, but the battery light started to flash. the battery indicator shower 100% battery life. I spoke to Duracell Direct and they said I needed a BIOS Driver to get the laptop to recognise the battery. Help, how do I do this?

One more follow-up piece of information:

When I took the power cable out of the laptop and replaced the original battery, the laptop started up and performed normally for time then this message came up and had to hibernate. Apparently this confirms the problem is with the laptop, not the battery.

Sony Message.pngNow off to an expensive service engineer.

Wish me luck.

Hi,

I contacted Sony, after being passed twice around the world and was told it was a laptop problem and out of warranty. I should contact Sony UK Engineers. I emailed one engineer who advised only fit a genuine original replacement battery and the message would go away. I contacted a few suppliers, and China, who could only offer cloned batteries. I then looked up Geeks to Go and got the following information.

New Web info: Caution Notice – Press Ctrl – Alt – Delete / Choose Task Manager / Go to Start-up / Go to ISB Utility then right click on button mouse and choose Disable / Restart your Laptop press again Ctrl-Alt-Delete and choose Task Manager / Go to Start-up / Go to ISB Utility then right click on button mouse and choose open the file location / Go to ISB Mgr then right click on button mouse and Delete / Message will not appear again.

I followed this action, fitted my original 8year old battery, and the laptop has never missed a beat since December 2020. The battery indicator, at the moment, shows 89% available (plugged in). The laptop also will boot up only on battery. (I got a full refund on the battery I had purchased.)

I hope this is of help.

You should probably contact Sony engineers for this.

Hi Sony Community Team,

Thank you Joe_Dohn for your answer to contact Sony Engineers. I had a call
back from Sony and they advised the same action as the problem would appear
to be with the Laptop and not the New or Old battery.

Thank you for your interest.

Hi there

I have the same issue. Original battery went dead suddenly and error message came up that battery is not compatible. Since it was old I bought and tried 2  new batteries, one stopped charging after 2 days the other is not recognised by the computer. Now I realised it could be an issue with the laptop Did the Sony Engineer solve your issue? Thanks

Hi there

Many thanks for the reply.

I tried what you have mentioned. My original batter comes as critical, advises come up to change the battery. (it is almost 11years old) I tried with a battery bought from Amazon same message come up. Not sure whether to buy an original battery which is not available.

I can use the laptop with AC Adaptor so will do so, looking to buy a new laptop but I love my Sony laptop.
