Hi Sony,
I've got this touch screen iresponsive on the top and bottom. I was not able to pulldown the notification and shortcuts menu when in portrait mode. Now even the bottom part of the screen starting become iresponsive. Pressing the back/menu/taskmenu starting to mulfunction.
Please help me fix this issue.
It increases sensitivity but doesn't recover the dead land.
Can we take any legal action against Sony? Any lawyers listening?
I have the same problem. My Z3C is two years old (plus a few days).
When i activate the phone (power button) and the locked screen starts, the touch screen is working fine. As soon as i leave the locked screen, the touch screen problem starts. Even if i only press the unlock symbol to switch to the pin screen. At the pin input screen the problem has started.
As everybody has discribed i cannot pull down the top menue. And i have read a lot of the posts here in this topic - it seems there is no solution yet.
All what i have read shows me that i was right that it has to be a programming/software issue.
The large number of problems started at/after two years makes me very suspicious. This could be a programmed "buy a new devcie"-bug by Sony. As we have recenty learned from Apple (slowing down devices when battery is growing old) - this behaviour is quite likely.
From my point of view this is a systematic product failure and Sony has to fix the problem with some kind of update or exchange all devices with that problem.
Now i have read more and different topics and i cannot understand the Sony behaviour. This problem is filling many topics in this forum. It is marked as "solved" several times. And it is not solved at all until today. Some users describe that the problem started with update 6.0.1.
The problem is several years old. Sony cannot or is not willing to provide a solution. I was up to buy the newer model XZ1C - but now i am in doubt. I thought Sony would listen to their clients. But obviosly they don´t.

buy 11/2014, changed by costumare care 08/2015 due waterproof failure.
04/2017 gps die. Now, after 2 day left turned off, lower bar was not usable.
i’m lucky, i’ve buy a new smartphone ( not Sony, obviusly) for christmas ......
i cant believe that a 450 euro smartphone can be so easly to die.

I have a SONY Xperia Z3 compact that I purchased in July 2015. My phone is in excellent condition, no scratches, or drops, never placed in a back pocket or anything like that.
As of October 2017 I have been noticing some 'unusual' behaviour at the top of the touch screen, where at times it was unresponsive when I was trying to scroll down. The problem started slowly becoming more prominent and it has moved to the bottom and middle of the screen.
I have searched in the SONY website forum and support and I have tried the suggestions (repair, reset, remove cover, restart in safe mode) but nothing addresses or fixes the problem.
By reading other people's comments and similar experiences of the problem occurring at exactly 2+ years' time, I now tend to believe that this is a problem of the model or the software. I have been a SONY Xperia owner for quite a long time, as you can confirm from the models registered under my account. I am now quite disappointed by what seems to be a defect of the top of the line Z3 compact series. As a matter of fact, I would expect from a reputable company, such as SONY, that a recall should have been issued. In any case, I kindly request a replacement, or free repair of my current phone.
Since 3 months i have the same problem. top and button part is not working. All test passed ok .
With Glove mode it is working somehow, but not the same.
It was a good start with Sony but for me it is clear, i will never buy again a Sony smartphone !
Just looking for a new phone....

I have same issue in my company.
I buyed 4 Sony Z3 in 2015 to my workers and all have the same issue that the touch screen is not working and this happened in few weeks on all 4 telephones. If it is hardware it will not happen in few weeks between the telefones.
Because of this i will not buy a Sony product again.
Sorry Sony i have allways used Sony products but in the future i will not buy again and will not recommend your product to anyone. You had loose the quality you normaly did before that is not good for the future.
